File attachments in contributions

Upload resumes, reports, mockups, and supporting documents with your contributions.

What assist types support file uploads?

Several assist types allow optional file attachments to provide supporting documentation:

  • Talent Referral: Candidate resume, portfolio, LinkedIn PDF
  • Account Intel: Market research reports, competitive analysis, slide decks
  • Content Idea: Campaign mockups, design assets, brand guidelines
  • Partner Door-Opener: Pitch decks, case studies, partnership proposals

Supported file types

  • Documents: PDF, DOC, DOCX, ODT (OpenDocument Text), TXT
  • Max file size: 10MB per file
  • Max files per contribution: 5 files

Note: Images (PNG, JPG, WEBP) are currently not supported for contribution attachments. For visual content, export as PDF or include links in your contribution text.

How to attach files

1. Open an Assist → Click "Contribute" 2. Fill out required fields 3. Look for "Attach files" section (appears if assist type supports uploads) 4. Click "Choose files" or drag-and-drop into upload area 5. Files upload immediately (progress bar shown) 6. Remove files before submitting if you change your mind 7. Submit contribution → Files are attached to your contribution record

Where files are stored

  • Files are stored securely in cloud storage (encryption at rest)
  • Only workspace members can access files from their workspace
  • Reviewers see files when reviewing outcome approvals
  • Admins can view files in contribution history
  • Files are retained for 2 years, then auto-deleted

Reviewer view

When a reviewer opens an approval request, they see:

  • Contribution details (text fields)
  • Attached files section with download links
  • File names, types, and upload timestamps
  • Inline preview for images and PDFs (when possible)

This helps reviewers validate contributions:

  • Resume quality for talent referrals
  • Research depth for account intel
  • Creative direction for content ideas

Tips

  • Name files clearly: Use descriptive names like "candidate_john_smith_resume.pdf" instead of "document1.pdf"
  • Compress large files: Use PDF compression for slide decks; resize images before uploading
  • Check file before uploading: Ensure resume is up-to-date, report is finalized, mockup is correct version
  • Don't include sensitive data: Avoid uploading files with SSNs, salary info, or confidential company data

Troubleshooting

File upload fails:

  • Check file size (<10MB per file)
  • Check file type (must be PDF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, or TXT - images not supported)
  • Try different browser if issue persists

Reviewer can't open file:

  • Check file wasn't corrupted during upload
  • Re-upload file if necessary
  • Contact admin if download link is broken

File contains sensitive info:

  • Contact admin immediately to delete contribution
  • Admin can remove contribution and files from database
  • Re-submit contribution without sensitive file
