Two types of points
Teamwins uses a two-tier points system: instant points for participation and outcome points that require reviewer approval.
Instant Points (Step 1 - Effort/Participation)
When you submit a contribution, you immediately receive effort points (typically 5-10 points). These are awarded automatically by a database trigger the moment your contribution record is created—no approval needed, no waiting.
Examples:
- Submit a warm intro → +5 points instantly
- Share a post → +10 points instantly
- Refer a candidate → +5 points instantly
You'll see these points in your dashboard within seconds of submitting.
Outcome Points (Steps 2 & 3 - Requires Approval)
Additional points for measurable outcomes require reviewer approval. When a reviewer approves an outcome step, a second trigger awards the corresponding points to your account.
Examples:
- Warm intro → meeting booked → Reviewer approves → +80 points
- Talent referral → candidate hired → Reviewer approves → +100 points
- Post share → 3k impressions → Reviewer approves → +25 points
Full Example: Talent Referral
Here's how points accumulate across three steps:
1. You submit referral → +5 points awarded instantly (no approval) 2. Candidate passes screening → You or reviewer submits approval request → Reviewer approves → +30 points 3. Candidate gets hired → Reviewer approves → +100 points
Total: 135 points across three steps (1 instant, 2 approved)
Why two tiers?
- Instant points reward participation and keep engagement high
- Outcome points reward real business impact and require verification to prevent gaming
- Reviewers only see outcome approvals, not participation—keeps their queue manageable
Tracking your points
