Turn contributions into celebrations

The Slack integration transforms TeamWins into a social recognition engine. Every contribution, every win, every milestone gets celebrated publicly in your team channel—building momentum, friendly competition, and a culture of appreciation.

Free for all plans — No Pro upgrade required.

Why Slack integration creates buzz

Public recognition drives participation:

  • Every contribution earns instant Slack visibility (not buried in email)
  • Trophy emojis and team shoutouts make people feel valued
  • Real-time updates create FOMO—teammates see others contributing and join in
  • Weekly rankings with medals (🥇🥈🥉) spark friendly competition

Keep the energy high:

  • New perks announced immediately—"Just added: Team Dinner for 120 points!"
  • New opportunities broadcast to everyone—no one misses a chance to help
  • Momentum builds as contributions roll in throughout the week
  • Friday summaries recap the week's wins and top performers

Reduce friction:

  • No need to check another app—updates come where you already work
  • Quick channel glance shows what's happening across the team
  • One-click access to contribute when you see an opportunity
  • Instant feedback loop: submit → get recognized → earn points

Build culture:

  • Public appreciation becomes the norm, not the exception
  • Transparent point system—everyone sees what earns rewards
  • Cross-team visibility—sales sees marketing wins, HR sees referrals
  • Celebrate outcomes together when deals close or hires start

Setup in 3 steps (takes 2 minutes)

Step 1: Connect your Slack workspace

1. Navigate to Admin Dashboard → Integrations 2. Find the Slack card 3. Click "Connect Slack" 4. You'll be redirected to Slack's authorization page 5. Choose your workspace and click "Allow"

TeamWins will request these permissions:

  • Create and manage channels
  • Post messages to channels
  • Invite users to channels
  • Read workspace member emails (for auto-invite matching)

Step 2: Automatic channel setup

After authorization, TeamWins automatically:

1. Creates #teamwins channel (or uses existing if found) 2. Matches members by email — Maps TeamWins users to Slack users 3. Invites everyone — All workspace members added to channel in batches 4. Posts welcome message — "TeamWins is now connected! Your contributions will be celebrated here."

No manual setup needed—the channel is ready immediately.

Step 3: Configure what gets posted

Back in the Integrations page, toggle these settings:

Post contributions (default: ON) Every time someone contributes and earns points: > 🏆 Sarah completed Refer New Lead — +5 pts > Referred Acme Corp for Q4 expansion deal. Sales team reviewing.

Post new perks (default: ON) When admins add rewards: > 🎁 New perk: Coffee Pass (10 cups) — 45 pts > Redeem with your points starting now!

Post new assist types (default: ON) When new opportunities launch: > 📋 New assist: Partner Door-Opener (Sales) > Help us get intros to strategic partners. Up to 50 pts available.

Weekly summary (default: OFF) Every Friday at 4 PM UTC, post a recap: > 📊 This week in TeamWins: > 🥇 Alex (3 contributions, 35 pts) > 🥈 Jordan (2 contributions, 25 pts) > 🥉 Morgan (2 contributions, 20 pts) > Total: 12 contributions from 8 people. Most claimed perk: Lunch on Us.

Enable the summary to maximize weekly engagement.

What happens when people contribute

Instant visibility cycle:

1. Teammate submits contribution Sarah fills out "Refer New Lead" form for Acme Corp, clicks Submit

2. Points awarded automatically Database trigger awards 5 instant points (no approval needed)

3. Slack post fires immediately Within seconds, entire team sees: > 🏆 Sarah completed Refer New Lead — +5 pts > Referred Acme Corp for Q4 expansion deal. Sales team reviewing.

4. Team reacts Colleagues add reactions (👏 🔥 🎉), reply with encouragement Others think "I should contribute too" and open TeamWins

5. Outcome points later When deal progresses (meeting booked, closed won), Sarah requests outcome approval Reviewer approves → Sarah gets outcome points → New Slack post celebrates the win

Result: Contributions become public celebrations, not silent transactions.

Tips for maximum engagement

Pin the welcome message After connection, pin the first post so new channel members understand what TeamWins is.

Encourage reactions Ask team to react to posts (👏 🔥 🎉) — it creates a feedback loop that feels good.

Enable weekly summaries The Friday recap is the most engaging post—people love seeing rankings and team stats.

Mention top contributors in all-hands Screenshot the weekly summary and shout out leaders in company meetings.

Celebrate outcome wins loudly When a referral turns into a hire or closed deal, post in Slack manually if you want extra visibility beyond the automatic update.

Use emojis in assist names Make assist titles fun: "🚀 Refer New Lead" or "💼 Partner Door-Opener" — they look better in Slack posts.

Don't mute the channel Encourage people to keep notifications on—FOMO drives engagement.

Share the channel link widely Add #teamwins to onboarding docs, team wikis, and Slack channel lists.

Advanced: Customize your setup

Change what gets posted Toggle individual post types in Integrations settings. Most teams keep all ON, but you can disable assist announcements if they feel like noise.

Adjust weekly summary timing Contact support to change the day/time (currently Fridays 4 PM UTC). Some teams prefer Monday mornings to kick off the week.

Invite new members manually If someone joins TeamWins after initial setup, the system auto-invites them to Slack within 24 hours. Or admins can invite manually from Slack.

Use channel for team discussions The #teamwins channel is yours—use it for discussing contribution strategies, asking for help with assists, or organizing group perks (like team dinners).

Monitor integration health Check integration logs in the Integrations page to verify posts are firing. If posts stop, try disconnecting and reconnecting.

Troubleshooting

Channel not created?

  • Verify you have Slack admin permissions in your workspace
  • Check that no #teamwins channel already exists with restricted access
  • Review integration logs for error messages

Team members not invited?

  • Ensure their email in TeamWins matches their Slack email exactly
  • Invites happen in batches (rate-limited by Slack) — give it 5 minutes
  • Some users might have left the channel—re-invite them manually

Posts not appearing?

  • Verify the integration shows as "Connected" with green status
  • Check that post toggles are enabled in settings
  • Ensure the bot wasn't removed from #teamwins channel
  • Review integration logs for failed post attempts

Too many notifications?

  • Adjust your personal Slack notification settings for #teamwins
  • Consider disabling "Post new perks" if perks change frequently
  • Keep contributions ON—that's the core engagement driver

Want to disconnect? Go to Integrations → Slack → "Disconnect." This revokes bot access but doesn't delete the #teamwins channel (manually archive it in Slack if desired).
